LABRISZ LESBIAN ASSOCIATION

Labrisz Lesbian Association was founded in 1999 in order to raise public attention to discrimination against sexual minority women, advocate for their interests and dissolve prejudices against them. 

Our Goals

Strengthening the self-acceptance and visibility of lesbian, bisexual and transgender women

Providing safe and supportive spaces for women
Supporting women’s and feminist grassroots communities’ work
Facilitating the discovery, cultivation and promotion of Hungarian lesbian and feminist culture
Awareness-raising about sexual minorities

Our activities

Cultural and community events

Community events, film club, game nights, crocheting club, literary readings and presentations which celebrate the visibility and diversity of lesbian and female queer culture and help build community.

“Without Taboos” Education Programme

“Without Taboos” is the education programme of Labrisz. In this education package, we offer various awareness-raising trainings and workshops to different target groups.

Herstory Archives and Censorship Museum

Archives, library, lesbian herstory: the collection and publication of books, voice and video recordings and other publications related to the life and history of the organisation and to lesbianism in general.

LABRISZ Books

Labrisz Lesbian Association started publishing its book series “Labrisz Books” in 2000, one year after its foundation. So far, seven volumes have been published.

LIFT Festival

Lesbian Identities Festival: an annual lesbian cultural festival with film showings, workshops, discussions, concerts, exhibitions and parties.
