Do you have a question but aren’t sure if you can ask it?
Have you ever heard someone say, “It’s good that there’s Pride, BUT…”?
Are you interested in how to talk respectfully about topics for which you’ve never been given a “manual”?
Then this event is for you!
At this two-part event, you will learn how to have good conversations about LGBTQI+ topics, and then you’ll have the chance to ask LGBTQI+ couples directly about their lives in today’s Hungary.
Participation is free of charge, but registration is required. The two parts of the program build on each other, but you can also register separately for each part at this link: https://civicrm.amnesty.hu/civicrm/event/info?id=912&reset=1
The event is organized by Amnesty International Hungary and the Labrisz Lesbian Association.
Program:
Part 1 – MELEG HELYZET (Workshop), 15:00–17:00
An interactive conversation where we will:
• explore the feelings behind sentences that start with “but”,
• look for answers together to classic points of debate,
• and learn how to ask good questions about LGBTQ+ people, relationships, rights, and life situations.
There are no bad questions – only the ones we don’t dare or don’t know how to ask.
Part 2 – PÁR-BESZÉD (Dialogue): Talk with LGBTQI+ couples, 17:00–19:00
A safe space where you can meet LGBTQI+ couples in person, ask them questions and hear their stories, learn about their joys, difficulties, and sources of strength. You’ll get an insight into how diverse yet how similar our relationships can be.
Informal, honest, human conversations – dialogue instead of prejudice.
Why should you come?
Because understanding begins with questions. Because acceptance is not always self-evident – but it can be learned.
And because even if you are already accepting, it can help you respond well to hurtful questions or support others on their way toward understanding.
