OUT AND ABOUT (2005)
This film brings you on a historical walking tour of Cork, focusing on the history and development of Cork’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Communities. It visits various locations throughout the city and discusses their significance in terms of the history of the LGBT community. The film was produced by Framework Films in 2005 and is narrated by Orla Egan and John Dunlea.
Following the screening of the film, Orla Egan, creator and curator of the Cork LGBT Archive and author of Queer Republic of Cork, will be available to answer questions about the film and the history of Cork’s LGBT community.
WRITTEN ON THE SOUL (2004)
This film explores gender identity in Ireland. It focuses on two main questions: what is gender identity and where is it located in the individual (is it in the heart, is it in the body, is it in the soul?). Three Irish based transgender people, Lucy/Richard, Diane and Stephen, answer these questions from the position of their own gender journey experiences. Carol O Keeffe, an independent documentary filmmaker from Cork, will be present to answer questions following the screening.
