March 22, 2024, 18:00-21:00

Labrisz is 25 years old this year!
As part of LGBT History Month, we are celebrating our 25th anniversary with a screening and discussion of the 25 years' history at this special Labrisz Evening.

Registered in the fall of 1999, Labrisz Association has been continuously operating and working for the self-acceptance and visibility of LBTQ women -- in community, cultural and educational arenas, through talks, books, films, often (and increasingly) in political headwinds.
We talk to former and current members about the background and circumstances of the founding, and the most important issues and changes in the years since, illustrated with photos.
Guests: Judit Hatfaludi, Márti Kis, Dóri Rédai, Bea Sándor, Judit Szabó, Mária Takács. Moderator: Anna Borgos
Join us on this exciting journey into the past!

Secret Years: Screening and discussion of the 15-year-old film

March 8, 2024, 17:00-19:30

Fifteen years ago, in November 2009, about 300 of us sat in the two large halls of the Művész cinema for the premiere of the first lesbian documentary film about lesbians, made largely by lesbians. We didn't know much about the experiences of women older than us who had lived their youth under the socialist system, so we interviewed them, looking for archival material and personal photos. This resulted in the documentray Secret Years, which became one of the audiovisual cornerstones of the post-change of regime LGBTQ movement, as well as a fascinating documentary for a wider audience.

Secret Years has been screened at international festivals, won the Audience Award at the 11th Verzio International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival and the ERSTE Social Award. The film has been translated into 12 languages and released on DVD.

A discussion with director Mária Takács, some of the film's cast and creators after the film.

The program is part of the 12th LGBT History Month.

Hilda Gobbi Film Club: The Second Golden Age

February 24, 2024, 18:00-21:00

Let's watch together our film "The second golden age, the challenges of love"! The writers of the story will be here to talk to you about what makes a good community film, what makes a film ours.

The story in a nutshell: A human rights soap opera about how a middle-aged lesbian loving couple in a small rural town come out today. How the propaganda media pits the peaceful residents against each other and how an art class project turns into a witch-hunt. While the local librarian organises a reading night for A Fairytale for Everyone, the ghost of Dóra Dúró is haunted by a meat grinder and the train of local extreme rights arrives.
